Meeting of the minds?

May 24th, 2006 by GoldenAppleCorp

One of our frequent commenters (commentors?) has recently leaked his impending arrival to our fair city to AT the other day and suggested a possible meeting this weekend. AT and I thought it might be a good opportunity to have a full-blown best of the ‘tumor shindig at a local watering hole, everyone invited.
I happened to drive by the Blue Hound Grille today and saw the sign for the new place (80 East Pub & Grille) and cars in the parking lot. I’m going to check tomorrow to make sure they’re open for business (and maybe get a peek at what’s on tap). What a better opportunity to support our local small business owners than to tie one on over there, say Saturday around 1 or 2?
If any of youse guys are interested in meeting us (no pressure ;) then drop us a line here or email and let us know. If we don’t hear from anyone, perhaps another time.

And for the hell of it, a picture of a goofy kid:

We have one request to move it to noon on Saturday…

I’m cool with whenever, but we need to make sure that the bar thingy is open. That early. Mebbe thats a bad place to meet. I also love the juxtaposition of Bos’s post about Eaves having a heart laden bean in her, and you talking about boozing.
What about coffee or something hippy like that?
    Woot!

  3. Mrs. Eaves Says:

We probably wouldn’t be able to make it until 12:30 or so because of the yard sale. I don’t mind going to a bar…just be sure to drink an extra one on my behalf.

  4. Bosphorus Says:

I’ll do that for you Missus! My pleasure.

  5. Joel Says:

So where is 80 East Pub and Grille? And why is there an e after Grille?

  6. GoldenAppleCorp Says:

80 East is where Blue Hound Grill used to be, at 80 East Tennessee Ave, across from the Soup Kitchen, the Epicurean, et al. And isn’t “Grille” the new black? I didn’t make it by there today, and haven’t found anything official for them online, so I don’t know if they’re officially open or not. AT’s thinking that *ack* Starbucks might be a better place to meet. What do you guys think?

  7. Joel Says:

Well, if you’re planning on beer, I don’t think Starbucks is the place. Ruby Tuesdays?

  8. Atomictumor Says:

Thats a thought, despite their craptacular beer selection and teeny tiny glasses. Wherever we’re going, would 12:30 work?

  9. Mrs. Eaves Says:

12:30 is good for us. Are you guys going to be without or without kids?

  10. Mrs. Eaves Says:

    Errr…with or without kids…

  11. GoldenAppleCorp Says:

Freudian slip, Mrs? I’m assuming yours will be there, so ours shall, too.
How about I be a decision maker and say Ruby Tuesday, 12:30-ish. They have Killians on tap, some snacks for the kids, and decent food for anyone looking to actually have a meal.
    That sound good with everyone?

  12. Joel Says:

    Copy that.

  13. Joel Says:

Thanks to AT, BJ, Bos and Mrs. Eaves for a memorable lunch in the ridge.

    Pigpen rulz, yo.

  14. The Bosphorus Says:

It was good meeting you Joel. Let’s do this again next time you’re in town.

  15. jdub Says:

    I missed the shindig?

  16. GoldenAppleCorp Says:

Gee, jdub, we were only talking about it for, like, a week or something. If you checked the site a little more often….

  17. jdub Says:

    What site?

  18. GoldenAppleCorp Says:

Uh, this one. And our forums, too.

  19. Atomictumor Says:

The popular forums! Its wearing out the SQL table just having them! You can actually smell silicon burning!
