The Missus had her first OBGYN checkup today and the news can’t be better. She called right after the appointment this morning and told me that, just as we’d figured, she’s six weeks along. A baby that’s six weeks along is about the size of a bean.
When the Doc did the ultrasound they were able to hear its heart beating. Now I don’t know about you, but that made my morning. Just think about that for a moment. We’re six weeks along and there’s a heart beating. All this time we’ve been thinking about names. We’ve redone the budget. We’ve searched, and not yet found, the first outfit. And somewhere along the way it’s heart began to beat.
It’s beating right now.

OK, so we’re going to do a date pool, right? If so. my 5 bucks is on Jan 22nd. Hey, its a shame January doesn’t have 33 days next year, the kid could be 1337!

And chances are, new baby will be at least a week late, but not more that 12 days late. So…I estimate the actual date of “confinement” to be between January 20 and January 25 - you might be on the right track, AT.

Yeah, I find the use of the word “confinement” a little unsettling. As if you’ll be strapped to the bed in a five-point harness, with deadbolts on the door. Sheesh, it’s just a baby. ;)

Congrats on the news! My wife and I found out we’re going to have another one, and our due date is 01/07/07! Things weren’t feeling right for her so we had an early ultrasound one last week but everything seems to be going smoothly. Our first appointment with the OB/GYN was for 06/06/06. A great day, in my book, but she got unnerved over it and then when she started getting some sharp cramping she immediately rescheduled and got in sooner. heh.

Congratulations on the baby, you two. I was lucky enough to get between you and some of Pigpen’s hand-me-downs on that last baby, but it looks like you’re competition-less this time. -sigh-
