Work after a vaction is the pits. It’s too bad I’m not independently wealthy. I’d write more about the vaction, but my head hurts right now. We all got sick over in our North Carolina cabin in the woods. Lugnut, Spotz, Father-in-Law, Eldest all got a stomach bug. Now it seems the cold I picked up while on vacation has developed into a nice sinus infection.
It could be worse.
The bug bites on my legs could be getting redder. The Missus thinks a brown recluse got a hold of me, but I don’t know. My legs aren’t rotting away, so I think maybe it wasn’t said spider. It was perhaps some other kind of wampus critter.
Hey, The Spotz and I caught a big ol’ catfish!
Who cares about bugbites and stomach bugs after that?

Ooh… nice cat! Sorry to hear that so many got sick on vacation, but hopefully, there was enough fun to make up for it.

Good to see you back around, man. That first day after vacation is almost worth not taking the vacation to begin with, tho.

Which river did you pull that cat from?

We pulled it from a pond. I was using an 8lbs test line, so it took a little work to get the cat out.

As an aside Joel, we were in the Yadkin River Valley.

Beautiful area. Used to drive up the Blue Ridge for weekend camping and hiking back when I was in grad school at UNC-Chapel Hill. Back before you were born.

That would’ve been back when W. Kerr Scott was the Governor of N.C., right?

You’re right, Joel. It’s beautiful country. I think, if the family and I ever relocated, that we couldn’t do much better than live right around there.

I’ll ruin everybody’s impression of eastern NC by saying I was born in Raleigh.

And I was bit by a brown recluse in Chattanooga at the age of 4. Still got the scar.
