The deed has been done. Although I don't approve of the papertrail-less machines, voting on them was easy and kinda fun, in a nerdy I-like-computers kinda way.

Because I had nothing better to do this morning, and felt like wasting a little gas, I drove by the three precinct locations in my district. There appeared to be a great number of cars at each, though I'm sure that quite a few of those belonged to campaign volunteers, candidates, etc. We voted early on Saturday, and I don't think I'll do that again. There's just something about voting on election day that I feel I'm missing out on.

I think one of the funnier moments of the campaign season came after we voted at the mall on Saturday. As we were driving out of the mall parking lot, we passed an Archer sign sticking prominently out of an enormous pile of dirt. Not a landscaped island, mind you, but just plain old dirt and rocks left after a demolition project. Nice.

I spoke to a fellow this week who said "i am guaranteed the right to bitch about who gets elected even if i don't vote, because that is my freedom they can't take away!!" I felt like I was trapped in some strange redneck adaption of "Waiting for Godot", though it was more likely "Waiting for Pabst Blue Ribbom."

I backed away as quick as possible in case his severe case of stupid was infectious. Yeesh.
