Good luck with that higher education thang AT. This may sound really silly, but what are the chances of borrowing enough dough for the first five hours. Lord knows you’ll be rich and powerful someday, after you get smart and stuff. So you’re good for it…right?

I wouldn’t say that the whole college system is screwed up. It’s more like the public college system is screwed up and the private college system is pointless. ;-)

Joel, I’m glad you brought that up. Actually, I’m in the firm belief that if colleges treated students more like customers, with an accountability for teachers who don’t belong there (regardless of tenure), we’d have a much better situation.

Did I already regale you folks with the tale of the Pellissippi teacher who flunked 80% of his class? Yes, no maybe?
A friend of mine had a introduction to drawing class last semester. 15 students, only one or two of them had an interest in drawing, the rest were taking it as a requirement and, as such, weren’t necessarily good artists. It was the last semester for that teacher, as he was moving to NYC the day after classes ended. He failed 12 of the 15 students, including my friend who has never made a grade below a B+. And I saw her work, she totally deserved a B.
Of course, his actions were reported and the students that filed grievances had their grades adjusted, but since the guy moved the day after end of semester, he wasn’t reprimanded or anything.
And apparently he was a giant ass to all his students. Good luck making a living as an artist in NYC, ass.
