Nice post, AT. As you know, I also feel that *everything* did not change for me on 9/11. I can identify many events in my life that were "life-changing." 9/11 was not one of them.

Atomic Tumor, I for one person was near the WTC and many family members and friends lived in Battery Park, and all of us are thinking differently about the disasters planned by man, just like the citizens on December 7, 1941. Have we learned? Yes, in many ways. We continue to learn and heal for those lucky to not be the victim.

Yeah, I had read you were from NY, and I figured you'd have been around there at the time. Must have been a hell of a day.
I think everybody was in NYC in some way or another on that day.
Actually, one thing I forgot to mention, now that I think back on it, is that that was the only day I can remember when everybody was in accord over something. We treated each other kindly, for that day, only because if we can't stick together in something like that, then hell, what good are we?

I always thought it was "Five years stuff gone by"...
Knowledge is power.
I'm amazed it's so quiet on here.

Yeah, I thought it was "stuff gone by" all this time also, but it didn't make any sense.

I read your recount of that day. It is amazing there are so many stories from that day. I just want them to get that MF!
Not to be illegal but certainly swift.

We all want to get him. Forget the head-on-a-stick stuff though: just bury him a**-up, head pointing west, with a pig's carcass. Then hack al-Jazzera and post the pictures.

I started a long 9/11 rememberance today, then got my hands on some more public records and decided to skip the emo post for uncovering public secrets instead. Heartless? Maybe. But the way to beat the terrorists is to not be afraid and just move on.

Five years ago was a horrible, gut-wrenching day. I think it made me appreciate life more, realizing how quickly it could be wiped out en masse.

I agree, tho I have yet to read your cloak and dagger posting.
What I don't really agree on is the need for vengance. Sure, he's earned it, but it won't matter to me if he gets it or not. It wouldn't bring people back, it wouldn't keep people from doing this again. It might be justice, but it'd be hollow.

Besides, I figure he's already dead.

Have to agree with AT on this. Defiling dead bodies has nothing to do with justice. It is just a perverse form of vengeance that brings us down to their level.

I don't think there is an applicable version of justice in this case, really. I mean, I guess one could argue that the widepread smiting and occupation of much of his territory of the world is a form of justice, but an ugly one.

Let us bring it to our home. Should we allow phone tapping of all phone calls to get clues to where he is hiding? I agree, no military in other countries just to find one person. That is absurd actions, if it is justice. I just want justice to be placed on Osama, not those hiding him.
