Sunday Haiku for A Waning Summer

September 17th, 2006 by Atomictumor

Backyard Mosquitos
Don’t steal the shine from these days
With outdoor cookouts

Comfy temperatures
Affect my whole demeanor
Not too zen of me

Was a short summer
I didn’t pay attention
Not that I mind much

What else do I miss?
In the blur of the fast life
Seen from the slow lane?

Are these years of work
Worth all the years of wanting
To get your time back?
True, theres just one life
And five senses aren’t a lot
When you have bills due

But wheres that forest?
All I can see around me
Are just these damned trees.

    Sometimes they cut trees
Maybe then the forest shows up
    And still they don’t care

    Saw the Rev. last night
    Stood up on someone’s shoulders
    Ecstatic, falling

    Horror Pops opened
    Reminiscent of ‘Cry Baby’
    Oh you Hatchet face
