I think a good first point to make would be about moving the citizen portion of the public meetings to the end. I don't need to go all into that now, since there's been a post or two about it and we've been loud to each other about how we feel. There's a council meeting tonight, isn't there? The council has said over and over again that swarms of visitors are staying in Knoxville hotels, but where's the proof? Have they researched it enough to bring us taxpayers back some quantifiable data? Or are they basing this claim on comments overheard at the Warehouse Tavern? We have several decent hotels in the area, none of which ever appear to be full. (Plus, we're getting the new Staybridge and another one, I think). Where is the need? I, too, would like to see more transparency in the budgeting process of the City. Their reluctance to do so lends itself to suspicion.
