Ahh, a reason to enjoy Wednesdays again

Who knew that strange islands with unique magnetic properties had subdivisions?
Its good to have Lost back on the air, even if a lot of the original appeal was in the discovery of the island and all the goofy crap on it. Like that big smoke monster, that… oddly… hasn’t appeared since the first season. Perhaps it was busted on a DUI.
I’ve purposefully tried to stay far away from fan theories, because I’m sure they’re all much better than what either I could come up with, or (unfortunately) probably what the writers come up with. I’m partial to the thinking that all of the memories we see these folks have are plants (although I’m not so sure about that, seeing as how its becoming more and more apparent that the plane crash was as much a suprise to the Others as it was to the Losties).
This season looks to be strong. 15 or so starters, no Michelle Rodriguez (who just kinda gets on my nerves), a pissed off Hurley, and Jack being tortured. Good stuff.

I love me some Lost.
I’m one of those geeks that theorizes and wonders, constantly, what the hell is going on.
At least its smart and that’s what I like about it.

I agree. Problem is, last season I started getting the feeling that the show really has no idea where its going. Mebbe I’m wrong, but I’d like to think that there’s an overarching story.
And more smokey monster, because its super cool.

Don’t forget Mr. Eko’s face-off with the black smoke monster midway through last season when he and Charlie were looking for the downed plane…

Oh hell, I did forget that… it was all going T2 on him… hmm.
So does the black smoke bring the fanatical zeal to push the buttons? Locke got it when he saw the thing back in S1, Boone did (to a lesser extent) when Locke put that goo on him.
Thats my beef with Lost, its like it forgets some of the mysteries it had back when.
However, the show is taking on a decidedly Prisoner-esq feel this season. I’m curious to see whats happening back at the camp, rather than whats going on with the Others.
But I gotta wait a week. The curse of the broadcast show.

I’m thinking that I might have to face my Lost addiction and overcome it. I don’t know if I can handle another season of waiting until Wednesday just so I can be frustrated by endless commercials and never nearing any sort of conclusion. Over the past seasons I’ve had really high hopes to have some things explained, but those hopes are eroding. I agree with you AT. I don’t think the writers had any clue about where they were going at the beginning, because mysteries have been introduced and then forgotten about.
The final scene from last season was What’s-his-name’s girlfriend finding the island when the big magnetic thing went off, or at least that’s what I thought happened. Where was that stuff yesterday?!

Yeah, I spent the first 10 minutes of the show thinking that blonde chick was Hume’s girlfriend, but then we realized otherwise.
Thats some hardcore brainwashing they’re doing. First rule in brainwashing (other than not to talk about it), is to isolate em, and then feed em, while establishing that you have dominance.
Or something like that. Anyway, Jack totally cracked. Sissy.
