According to Morgan Quitno Press, that paragon of surveying goodness, Tennessee is the 30th smartest state in the union. We have moved up 11 spots, which is the best improvement in the country.
I guess I should qualify this by saying that the factors involve the public education system in the state…

Massachusetts is #2. We are so smart, we are so smart. S. M. R. T. I mean S. M. A. R. T.
But we’re ranked like 47th in state funding for public education. I can’t find the specific source of this information but the democratic governor candidate had a speech about it.
