I don't have a dog in this fight, and don't really know much about either candidates' stands. We have politics of our own out here.

I did see the ad, of course. While I can't say I find it "racist" exactly, it was certainly calculated to irritate racist Southerners who are afraid of miscegenation. It should have been insulting to any Tennessean to think that the GOP would find such slop appealing.

I can't wait for our election up here. There is a heated race for the county's register of deeds. The Republican is a douche, the democrat who received the nomination is a fool and the guy who has been doing the job for the past 12 years has to run a write in campaign because he changed parties and wasn't able to run as a democrat due to election laws. I really can't wait to see the results of that election. The position carries with it a salary of $90k. I'm hoping the write-in guy wins and to a lesser extent the democrat... anyone to beat that show boating republican.

I don't get why the position is partisan but when you're handling home deeds and things of that nature, it's better to avoid the red.

See, I didn't realize people still had racial marriage issues.. I thought the Cosby show cured all that.
That, and the obsession with gay marriage nowadays..

Nah...not interested. Fact is, I'm not the one wasting my time telling folks who the ad was aimed at or how well it was calculated. On the contrary, it would appear that your future with the Democrat party looks bright to me.

It wasn't the amount of attention you've devoted to the project of defending this ad, daco, that led to my comment. It's the way you adopted the GOP tactic of personalizing the issue. I didn't smear *you* as a racist, yet somehow you thought it was ok to smear me.

Yeah, I just learned yesterday that apparently Ford is anti-gay and pro-life.

When do we get two different leaders with DIFFERENT opinions again?

Any why is the Love Fo' Jesus Scale (LFJC, dontcha forget it) so damn important? Ugh.

Oh Joel, no need for you to take it personally. You said, ..."it was certainly calculated to irritate racist Southerners who are afraid of miscegenation." You were obviously irritated by the ad, and I simply put two and two together.

No offense intended....it's called humor.

No problem. So was the stuff about "making baby Jesus cry" on an earlier thread. I knew you'd understand.

Get used to it people. "Making baby jesus cry" is one of my oft used phrases...

Evan, yeah, I don't get the decision between clone candidate 1 and clone candidate A. Apparently everybody is supposed to vote along party lines these days, but I don't remember getting a memo about it...

I don't understand your confusion guys. Tennessee is a red state. Mr. Ford just wants to fit in...don'tcha know.

"What Tennesseans will get will be a Jesus-loving, gun- supporting believer that families should come first, that taxes should be lower and America should be strong. When Tennesseans send us to the Senate, that's what they'll get in my votes and that's what they'll get in the kind of leadership that we have not had in the Senate over the last six years."

Joel...the next time you refer to a political ad as "juvenile" how about I remind you that you were the one to add a link to fauxnews? Nothing juvenile about that site is there?

No more juvenile than your link to foxnews, daco.

The difference (since apparently it has to be explained to you) is that the GOP paid lots of money and put an ad on television in the hope of affecting the votes of those watching TV for other reasons. The folks at fauxnews.com paid very little money to put a satire on the internet in the hope of amusing those who volunarily click over to their site.

However, the equivalency you've drawn between the GOP and the folks who created the fauxnews.com site is duly noted.

Joel,
my link to Fox news was a serious interview on Fox News Sunday with Harold Ford. The difference (since apparently it has to be explained to you) is that while you get your panties in a bunch about a silly and juvenile political ad, you are not above posting a link to a site that is even more juvenile and a good bit more obscene.
