Monday morning, woo-hoo

November 27th, 2006 by Atomictumor

Getting the boys off to school in another 10 minutes or so!  I’ve spent the last 45 in a life or death struggle with the Voice over IP client I’m using to take calls from home, evidently it REALLY doesn’t want to make a connection with the server.  I mean, it tells you it wants that connection, and it looks like its trying to make it, but I think it’s secretly watching football or something.

Its probably all like making fun of me.

“huh huh… dude, hey, IPsec client, look at that loser out side with the headphone on.  He wants to connect to work, he’s a loooser.  I’m gonna watch football now”

So, I called tech support (yes, drink in the irony) but the real tech support guys aren’t there until later.  Unfortunately, while frustration would help, since I do the same thing to other people myself, I guess I can’t really say much.  Sigh.

Ooo ooo oo I could make some coffee!  Ah, and take a shower, yes.

But, I’ll write more stuff here instead.

One thing thats been with me, is that now that I’m not writing about BJ, what the hell do I write about?  I’ve set a precedent here that I’m loath to break, doing all this personal writing.  Normally (and you can tell by the archives, I’m sure) the personal writing isn’t so much me.  I like writing, but at arms distance.  I’m wondering when that instinct will come back, if it does.

So, lets take stock of the situation, eh?

House: Messy (actually, not horribly messy, but enough to bug me. Particularly this bedroom.  I really need to get it sorted out.)

Arm: Sore (not sure why), and it feels like I have an ingrown hangnail on the bird finger of my left hand.  Uncomfortable, but things could be worse, right?

Children: Asleep

Loneliness:  Not so the bad in the day, but increasingly irritating at night

IP client: STILL NOT CONNECTING…. CONNECT, YOU SMUG SON OF A BITCH!

Ahem, I digress.

Time to go do something useful.  Adios!

You have no obligation to entertain or emotionally engage anyone with your writing on any topic.

Those of us who feel like we have gotten to know your family a little bit through your writing just want to see you and the boys be well and thrive going forward.

I use Skype. Skype name trentriverwoman. If that isn’t the program you are using now and cursing, you might look into it. It is serving us well since we are calling Europe, and all around canada and the us and elsewhere. Also, a call to my cell from skype doesn’t register as a long distance call, even from John in Holland. www.skype.com

I seldom see Treecy in any blocks of time, and it was a pure delight to be with her for the weekend. After the service and the breaking of bread together and with such a chunk of time to fill, we went to Knoxville and ended up wandering the waterfront and basking on a beer patio. We got caught up in massive post football traffic and somehow ended up on the I 75 pointed north. Since she had to be to work this morning, it just seemed a better plan to head home. Especially since I had to make a side trip and pick up a printer that couldn’t be shipped. We got home about midnight last night.

It turned out to be a very moving goodbye to a lovely lady, and we are both very glad we made the trip to be part of it. Know that you are loved and welcome here anytime. Ralph sends his respect and regards to you and your family, and a special hello to your grandfather and grandmother Kilpatrick.

All the best to you on this new leg of your journey. Sue

I am also home safe and sound, (after 15 hours in the car - traffic jam outside Windsor). I am so glad I was able to be with you. Thank you for letting me make noise during your solemn service.

I loved being there with you, with your family, with my family. Everyone here wished to be there also. We hate that the distance is so great. Someone should invent a transporter…

The Clan is home, safe and sound…took all day for some of us and into the night for others. So glad we could be with you Saturday and very sorry we couldn’t attend Barleys. I agree with TheNoisyOne and wish someone would invent a transporter…to the Canadians, liked your music and fellowship, wish it could have been a longer visit…will continue to lift you up in prayer, Jake and boys…will pray that this first week speeds by for you…my love to you…Auntie Artist

I don’t think you owe anyone anything with what you write either, but I would love to hear more of the story of you and BJ if the urge strikes you. It is such a beautiful story so far - and could be a sweet gift for your sons to read some day.
    You are in my thoughts.

  6. Atomictumor Says:

Theres more to tell, it’ll come when it comes. Thanks Beth.
WRT the writing, nah, I just write whatever comes out of my fingers. I might owe people stuff, but I usually welsh on that kind of stuff anyway, so I wouldn’t expect much different.

    Thinking of all of you.

We don’t use VoIP but my wife does work remotely from home. We get free internet from her company and I’m pretty sure they want us to switch to VoIP but screw that. It’s just DSL and was a downgrade for me, since I was on cable previously.

The downside of being on the phone with tech support at home is that it feels like downtime. Tech calls from work feel like an extra break.

  9. Aunt Beck Says:

AT/Jake Sounds like your day has been busy thus far. You only have to write when your heart tells you to. It shouldn’t be a chore, if so, then back off. We just want to know that you are “pressing on”. Let God led you through what each day brings. Your posts have been a blessing to many folks. Had you not done them, many, many people would not have know to pray for you and the boys. The most important thing that any of us can do is pray for you and your little family. Continue to talk to God and lean on Him. We love you.
    Love, Aunt Beck/bkilpwhite
