A relaxing night with Nodbob

December 16th, 2006 by Atomictumor

So, tonight, all week long, I was looking forward to heading to a party, something I don’t normally do, with some new friends, but at the lastish minute we figured we’d pull out for various logistical reasons.  Mostly, drinking, and watching crap.

Yes, I’m a loser.

Man, man, man, let me tell you about some shoes.  Specifically, some shoes for me.  On my feet right now.

Traditionally, BJ’s folks get me my annual pair of shoes for Christmas.  I’m a 15, so I’ve found it best to shop at zappos.com, on account of stocking a decent selection of shoes.  I picked the pair out Wednesday online at their house, and they got here today.  I was checking them out, to make sure we didn’t need to return them, and OH MY GOD they’re so comfortable.  They’re dressier/casual shoes by some company starting with an F that makes fancy shoes, the name eludes me, but its like wearing little leather teddy bears on my feet.

My feet sing with joy.  They slip on, and they’re just incredibly, incredibly comfy.  Yes, little feet, you are in happy land.

So, its almost midnight, and I’m feeling pretty happy.  Nodbob is good people, and having him around is great.  Having the kids gone is kinda nice too… but don’t tell them I said that.

After the shoes, we went to the record store to purchase some Christmas presents for myself.  Woot, for lo, it is good.

Not much else to day.  Nodbob just poured me my first whiskey and coke for the night, and I think it’ll probably be my last.  I’m just too old to drink.  Sigh.

Everybody else having a good time?

We went to the party and I was hoping to meet you there . . . but I’m glad you had a nice evening hanging out at home.

I don’t believe I’ve ever heard another man besides me so excited to get a nice comfy pair of shoes.

Having a relaxing drink doesn’t quite work for me anymore, either, but if you choose a nice brandy, it goes down smoothly and a limit of two doesn’t unbecome you the way a harsh whiskey can. ;)

AT you are such a girl.

  4. Kathy Says:

    Shoes!
Since I don’t know you for real, I can’t come right out and agree with Daco about your girliness. But that did maybe have a certain hint of girlish delight! Just a hint, though. After all, those are 15s!

  5. sumgurl Says:

    big feet

  6. daco Says:

Yep, a big ole girl with a deep voice.

OK, I guess I am getting old, because your evening sounded GREAT to me. I wanted to sit down and relax last night with a couple of glasses of wine….but, I was TOO DAMN LAZY to even run up to the store to get a bottle. How sad is that? But hey…I think it just might prove I’m not an alkie…

    Loser

  9. Southerncharm Says:

    Damn that didn’t come out right! I meant I’m a loser! :-)

  10. Sista Smiff Says:

It means you’re getting older when things like comfortable shoes bring you joy. Not girly.

  11. Atomictumor Says:

Daco’s just jealous, because he hasn’t discovered the joys of good shoes. Seriously, it pained me to take them off for bed last night.
Daco never found the finer things in life, like decent beer, or good porkchop recipes, or nice shoes.
Its OK. I pity him, in a way.

  12. COCO (the Canadian version) Says:

I’m happy for your happyfeet AT…and glad you found pleasure in enjoying a good drink in good company. I think sometimes ‘getting older’ translates into simply enjoying the little things that give you that content feeling. Nothing wrong with that girlyboy…;)

  13. Jacket Says:

AT says, “I’m a 15,” at least you have a strong foundation. What you have been through has shook you to that foundation but hey, those feet held you up. Now you can keep walking.

Damn, that is some big feet. About twice the size of mine. You are one big dude. Hope I can count on you to be on my side in a physical altercation, just showing up would probably be enough. Wow!!!!

  14. Ju1ia Says:

    Florsheim, maybe?

Comfy shoes are one of life’s little joys. I just got a gawjus pair of peep toe satin pumps. I don’t think they’d suit you, though.

Your night sounds great to me, but then, I don’t really like meeting new people in person. It squicks me out.

  15. Jean Says:

    Shoes?

Let me talk to you about handbags, my friend. ;)

  16. Jane Says:

Yes, “little feet” you are in happy land.

    LITTLE FEET?

    Signed,
    a size 5
    (also hard to shop for!)

You are lucky you found the perfect shoes. My in-laws were going to buy me a pair of shoes I’d been eyeing for months - only to find that they only have brown ones left (I needed black). Waaah!!!

Hubby said next time we’ll just charge the damn things so I don’t have to cry about it later.

  18. jonathan hickman Says:

I just want to say that that was one damn fine partay….

  19. Jennifer Says:

You know what they say about dudes that have big feet………they wear big shoes.

What brand are your shoes? My hubby wears a 14 so I know a 15 has to be really hard to find. We walk into a shoe store and say bring out all you have in size 14 and usually they come out with 3 pair of shoes if that.
