My favorite Christmas game
Sunday, December 24th, 2006Is stalling.
Growing up, we’d get back from the 5 PM Christmas Eve mass, have dinner, and then we gathered in the living room to open the presents. Only, Mom would be gone. It’d take about 30 minutes, and during that time we were asked to wash dishes, sweep floors, etc.
It was infuriating, but we kept a smile on the whole time.
Every Christmas, I rediscover the joy of the stalling game. Now that we’ve eaten (all except for Pigpen, who’s still working on it), I’m not sure what to make them to yet. So far, I’ve had them put up clothes, clean up some, and various other odd jobs.
I think maybe I’ll go to the bathroom for a while, and read.
Man, I love Christmas…
Our new table.
Sunday, December 24th, 2006We got the table, no cracks…
and at an additional 30% off! That a total of 60% off retail price.
Woot!
Thanks for the help, AT.
Christmas Eveku
Sunday, December 24th, 2006“The presents were tucked
Under the chimney with care…”
That doesn’t sound right.
Yes, I remembered
Sunday tradition of yore
That I’ve neglected
So this is my gift
To whoever receives it
On this eve of mas.
A haiku of peace
Acceptance, understanding
Of love, one and all
For friends, family
Strangers all over the place
Or something like that.
