I would go with the SATA 3.0's, and at least two gigs of memory just in case you want to go over to vista. I would go duo or x2. Get a board that you can expand on in the future. AMD has the new A2 socket but the Duo is proven. Newegg has got some great deal on some SATA 3.0's @500 GB for about $120 ish. Man, just go for a rebuild -- PCIx is so cheap right now and if you are in an expanding mood, might as well invest in the future. I am sorry -- I just drowl at computer stuff. It is a sickness. I might as well dream spending other people's money. =)

and your redneckified back yard holds no candle to our redneck carport.

Hey, I've got the remains of a cut down tree in my back yard. Short of a car on wheel blocks, that's got to count for some redneckification.

PDA's are good fun gadgetry.

You know...a lot of people are still on here, listening to you, supporting you, whatever. I guess the one thing about being a lurker is that I come on here every morning and see what you have said, but don't always say anything to you. You talked in the last post about not getting the support you got back in Nov. Well, a lot of us are still here, but don't know what to say.

I guess I relate more to the boys because I lost a parent as a child. I ended up having a lot of issues with my mother because she was able to go on and live her life without my father. My mom changed a lot when he died. I don't blame her now, but I did then. It doesn't sound like you are doing that at all with your boys.

You need to do what is best for them, but also what is best for you. When I got a divorce and went through a hard time I went back to school. It really helped me. It sucked financially, but I did what I needed to do.

Listen to that little voice in the back of your head. Have a real conversation with it. Write things down and weigh your options. You are smart enough to figure this out.
