So, who wants to hear about my cervix?

January 10th, 2007 by Mrs Eaves

I thought that I’d delurk for a while to give everyone an update:

My cervix is currently 1-2 centimeters dilated; thick but soft!

Doc seems to think there’s a good chance that something will happen this weekend (or before), but if it doesn’t, that I’m welcome to come in on Tuesday and he’d get the ball rolling.

Phew!

  9. Karen Says:

What do they say to get things going….. castor oil, an Italian dinner, and umm…relations with the husband?
Don’t worry about the numbers. I went from a tight 3 to 10 in a matter of HOURS.
The baby will get here when he/she is ready. :)

  10. Punk HP Says:

You may need to send your cervix to a Certified Cervix Service Center as soon as possible.

  11. Ericka Says:

I went for a loonngg walk and went into labor early the next morning. And labor went so fast the nurse delivered Abby :)

  12. daco Says:

Viagra will fix that problem…from what I am told.

  13. southerncharm Says:

Congrats! Well, as you probably know the cervix can stay at 1-2 cent. without going any further for a week or more! Good luck, best wishes, and health to all.

  14. Mrs Eaves Says:

Yeah, I know. But with the other three, I didn’t dilate at all before being induced. So, 1-2 centimeters is progress I’ve never made on my own before. :)

  15. sumgurl Says:

nipple stimulation releases oxytocin and helps spur labor along. but why am i telling you this … this is your 4th! you have this down to a science, right eaves!? ;)

  16. meice Says:

Ha ha… we’re at 4cm, soft, thin and have been since last Friday! Nothing! Tomorrow we’re having our final appointment and if still no labor they’re breaking her water.

  17. realtorchick Says:

I hope everything goes well! Do you say “break a leg” or “good luck”? Best wishes anyway!

  18. sumgirl Says:

i was wondering whatever happened, meice … if there was a baby yet. so it’s kind of a race … who will deliver first? the suspence!

  19. timsan1 Says:

  20. timsan1 Says:

I did not see that there was another birth to be had until I read the comments — now it is a labor race — who will win?? =)

  21. timsan1 Says:

We will send the cherib of fast labor — my daughter — (5 hours) — she will annoint you with a fast labor as well. I am very excited for you guys!

  22. Jean Says:

    (four kids)

    (passes out)

I’m one of these folks who loves other people’s kids (don’t have or want any myself), so I don’t know scratch about any of this…but I’m happy for youse guys.

  23. Jacket Says:

1-2 Centemeters Cerveza? Oh, sorry cervix. Boy did I mess that one up.

  24. jenwright Says:

I am pretty familiar with the hell that is waiting out that last week or two. I remember hearing “1 to 2 cm” and expecting the baby in the next day or two. One week and some days later I was just praying that the dumb baby would just COME OUT!!!!

  25. Karen Says:

See if your OB will do a membrane stripping. During the cervix check they run their fingers between the cervix and the amniotic sac. This causes inflammation which somehow causes the cervix to dilate. Really helped me with my first. Within 36 hours I went on my own without induction. Worth a try. :)

  26. LissaKay Says:

I went from 1-2 cm to birthing in less than 3 hours. Second stage consisted of one half-hearted push, and out she came. You can hate me now. But I am sending easy birthing vibes your way!

  27. Dean Says:

Sending positive thoughts from South Carolina… Go Baby Go!! (OK… I’m going back to lurking again…)

  28. meice Says:

It’s offical, inducted set for 8am tomorrow… The wife’s cervix is so thin and flexable they’re surprised the baby hasn’t fallen out yet.

  29. meice Says:

    Err induction set.

  30. Jane Says:

Alright, Mrs. Eaves; you have to beat 8 a.m. tomorrow. I suggest chinese food and maybe a trampoline!

  31. Mrs Eaves Says:

Meice - sending you & your wife warm thoughts for tomorrow! Good luck!

I’ve not had much in the way of labor activity yet. The Braxton-Hicks contractions I’ve had in the past few days, however, are completely different from what I had been experiencing previously. Who knows what that means, though?

Ooh, Bos is scooping me some ice cream. Yum.

  32. Jane Says:

Yes! God Bless you and yours meice.

What a good hubby you have Mrs Eaves!

  33. miriam1 Says:

It’s so wierd how at the end there I wanted him OUT because I would (ha!) sleep better. Though those first couple nights were hormonally induced heavenly foggily restful.

Four! You should be given a tiara. And a cerveza.
