Tonight, or tomorrow?

Friday, January 12th, 2007

Hey, the Missus is having contractions and they’re regular. The contractions are coming about every seven or eight minutes. Sometimes they’re a little closer, sometimes a little further apart.

We’re ready to head to the hospital. Just waiting for the right time tonight, or tomorrow.

Lets hear it for Robert Anton Wilson

R.A.W. left the mortal body today.

GAC and I were big fans of his works, the Illumatus Trilogy, Schrodinger’s Cat, etc.  In fact, the name GoldenAppleCorp came directly from his works.

I couldn’t begin to summarize his philosophies or works in a short post, but they involved meditation, drugs, sex, and all sorts of good stuff.  He helped Timothy Leary develop the 8-Circuit Model of Consciousness, and described it at length in his book Prometheus Rising, with exercises and whatnot to allow you to open those extra circuits.

When I was 23, I read it, and while I didn’t see myself entering the metahuman consciousness that’s advertised, it did do me some good, which stays with me to this day.

I raise a glass to the dude today, and hope that maybe GAC can show him the ropes in whatever they’re in now.

Cheerios

Looked like labor was cranking up last night about 11:30. The Missus had a series of regular contractions for just short of an hour. They were coming every ten minutes. We got up. The Missus started to pack her stuff (Yeah, that crucial hospital over-night bag wasn’t ready till last night.). I packed up my clothes. Two of this, two of that. Then I went to charge the gadget batteries and eat a bowl of Cheerios.

The contractions didn’t so much slack off when the Missus started moving around, but they lost their regularity. She told me this morning that they kept coming all night. So I’m headed off to work right now, but sticking close to the phone. (I was doing that yesterday…)
