Alan Massengill said. There, he allegedly filled the bathtub and placed a hair dryer, DVD player and curling iron in it with their cords dangling outside the tub, Massengill told The Knoxville News Sentinel in story published online Friday. Police raced to the home after Shannon Crowley made repeated 911 calls on a portable phone shortly before 10 p.m. All dispatchers heard on the calls were screams, Massengill said. Officers kicked open the front door and Shannon Crowley came running out. "He was taking her in that direction (to the bathroom)," Massengill said. "He apparently was going to throw her in the tub and plug those appliances in." Crowley ran to the kitchen and threatened suicide with a steak knife. Officers disabled him with a jolt from a Taser.
