Oh my god, they’re trying to make me go to Bonnaroo…

White Stripes.
Franz Ferdinand.
The Police.
Wilco.
The Flaming Lips.
Ween.
Spoon.
The Black Keys.
vs…
Thousands and Thousands of dirty hippies.
Dammit. They’re really trying to get me in Bonnaroo this year…

Hmm, checking further, it looks like the Flaming Lips are going to be playing Athens GA in April… that sounds good.

Ah, hippies.
February 14th, 2007 at 2:51 pm
Hmm… the music is really good.
Maybe if you were drunk enough the lack of hygiene would be less noticeable….

Yep, them “dirty hippies” love em’ some good music.

I thought we had converted you to emo college radio? Sufjan, Of Montreal, etc.
February 14th, 2007 at 4:21 pm
Nah, Sufjan is the only recent convert. Most of those bands are bands that I’ve been itching to see for a while, tho, so seeing em all together like that made me salivate.

Kinky

I so feel your pain. I cannot bear the thought of being
a) in the traffic that Bonnaroo brings
b) amongst thousands of people
c) amongst thousands of (I’m sure lovely but) stinky people
And I’m sure plenty more really awesome bands will be announced soon! But I simply can’t bear the abc’s.

Y’know, the more and more I think about it, the more possible it seems that I might actually go there…
Who’s riding with me?

Go AT! My brother & sis in law went a year or 2 ago. They are high-brows from LA. We were shocked that they even entertained the idea. They called us to let us hear some bands “live” as we are not dirty or hippie, but were big jam band fans and both went on GD tours in our younger years. (I’ll guarantee they didn’t camp but stayed in the best hotel nearby!) -So it can’t be all that dirty & hippie.

Oh yeah, Keller Williams (who I went to school with and am friends with) still lives here in our hometown and is playing too.
-Just a little VA love for ya.

If I thought there were really going to be a bunch of hippies, I might actually go. I’m affraid that over the last few years it’s turned into a bunch of clean frat boys.
February 15th, 2007 at 7:53 am
Oh you should go. My husband goes every year and LOVES it.
February 15th, 2007 at 8:16 am
I also think you should go.
February 15th, 2007 at 8:26 am
I think you should come with me, Eaves…
February 15th, 2007 at 8:41 am
Yeah, you should go. They have showers there now, and the motor vehicle traffic isn’t bad like it used to be.

Y’know, another difficulty is that MastaG REALLY wants to go with me, but I REALLY don’t know if Bonnaroo is a good place for a 10 yr old, no matter how going on 18 he is…

I just found this band, and knowing your musical tastes I thought I would pass it along…

I wish I was closer to Nashville so I had to suffer with the decision about Bonnaroo.

We thought about taking Cash with us……

We used to take our kids to music festivals when they were young, but a few years ago they became too old - but not old enough to attend. Some of the “sights” of the concert-goers recreational activities became apparent to them when they were older.

Bingo.
