Kentucky Fried Catholicism

No, I’m not trying to stir up theological debate.

Just wanted to share with you the latest Lent snack food.

What next - a seasonal Lent aisle in Wal-Mart?

I seem to remember some vatican theologian writing a paper several years ago that wasn’t favorable towards fast food.

    [edit: yeah, here it is.]

Ok. That theologian???? Has way too much time on his hands.

He needs to come here and do my laundry and my grocery shopping and cook my Friday dinner. (Marinated Broiled salmon with mixed vegetables and rice, also a garden salad)

On Ash Wednesday I had a fish filet from McD’s. It’s kind of a tradition. I only do it once a year and every year it is so ghastly I wonder what the heck I was thinkin’!!!

Then I sat in my nice sunny warm car and said the Rosary.

I sat in my car in the McD’s parking lot because at home I would be distracted by the above mentioned laundry etc….

In the car there is nothing else to do but sit and pray for everyone that passes by.

Jane? Beads and all? In the McD’s parking lot? You’re lucky no local peg you as a terrorist or something. Snakes are one thing but bring out those beads and who knows what people might think! I don’t think that McD’s fish counts as fish — I mean what started out as fish and what comes over the counter tastes like a mixture of fries, chicken, and mayo. Bos and Eaves it is all about the micro markets — you got to hit all those religions out there to stay competitive. I am surprised that you can’t find a decent place that sells snake food on Sunday — a virtual untapped market. 12 hours till house closing . . .

I didn’t know the Pope was “Gather’n Around the Good Stuff” per your article Eaves.

LOL!! Yes Tim. Beads and all!! I just started really saying it. It’s my Lent thing.

(I actually started up last week just to “practice”)

I defintely need something to help me keep track otherwise I would get lost and give up.

    It’s very meditative.

I think you’re right about the Fish Filet being….something else. Blech. I need a new tradition.

Good luck on the house closing!!
