Encounters with the referenda

Monday, March 5th, 2007

So, Saturday morning, there was a knock on the door by a friendly old guy with a clipboard.  I said hi, and he said hi, and asked if I’d like to sign his petition.  I stopped him right there, with a smile, and told him that I disagreed with the referendum.  He smiled back, said OK, and went down the road.

I was kinda expecting an argument, but I guess he figured he’d take the show on the road.

I have a friend, lives in Woodland, that had a different experience.

He got up Saturday at about 9 to what I can only assume is a different old guy with a clipboard (no, not the OMWAC, thats old news) wanting him to sign the petition.  Now, this guy has had no fewer than 4 visitors with clipboards to his house in the past week, who have all gotten a negatory answer, but this one was different.

This one started arguing with him.  Now, keep in mind, I wasn’t there, but I’ve known this guy for a while, and he isn’t one to exaggerate.  He is, however, one to argue back.  So when the old guy started trying to give his line, my friend gave one back.  One thing led to another, and apparently my friend ended up being accused of being an athiest.

“I kid you not”, my friend told me.  An athiest.

So, apparently, the folks opposing development of Pine Ridge now have God on their side.  How long will it be before we start seeing the flaming swords?  Clouds of locusts?  Hives and frogs?  Is this what its come to?

Armageddon isn’t on Jericho Hill this year, but on Pine Ridge?
