Our articulate and eloquent founding fathers would keel over in horror shock to hear the "I-know-you-are-but-what-am-I," and the "Oh-yeah-well-you're-a-poo-poo-head"-type response to healthy debate. Sadly, this phenomenon is now standard practice in our media, our politics. P.S. Your friend should report the solicitor for harassment. The guy wasn't exactly "rep-ri-sentin" (insert rapper hand gesture here) his organization very effectively. That is silly and dangerous. I go to houses, and would never argue with the owner, even with certain powers, that is just not done. That shows the mentality of this group? Maybe, no respect for private property like they claim? This bozo could end up being found floating face down if he does it at the wrong house. What a maroon. Simply irresponsible. A legal one, says I, but he didn't stop there. Must've been a bad day in craptastic jobsville. Either that or it was really a cleverly disguised survey about how ticked off people get on the phone before they hang up...
