AT - good luck. I know there was some concern about a secondary infection with GAC. So you are probably worried. Hopefully all you need is a cleaning and that's it.

Also, I can't recommend the Sonicare toothbrush enough. It's ridiculous at like $80, but my cleanings have become nearly worry-less.

Oh, I think I'm fine. Never (knocking again) had any tooth pain, other than the aforementioned wisdom teeth.
Yah, BJ had tons of teeth problems, and that might be working on my subconcious, because I still think that the antibiotics she was on 3 or 4 times in the last half-year of her life contributed to the resistance of the strain of infection she had.

My hubs is the same. While hardly even noticing that he HAS teeth, I furiously brush, floss, de-plaque and Armour-All mine daily but still end up with a bazillion cavities.

Sounds like you're not prone to cavities, in which case, you'll probably be just fine. Good luck.

I have to second the sonicare toothbrush. It cleans your teeth and gums so much better than a manual toothbrush. Good luck at the dentist.

I had 2 root canals done last year due to grinding my teeth. The dentist had to give me psych drugs to get me into the chair. Unfortunately for the Punk my friend driving me home decided to stop by an estate sale. What a surprise when the antiques showed up!

AT, going to the dentist always paralyzed you. I used to laugh at you, especially when I could hear the dentist tell you to let go of his hands and settle down. The day you got 4 baby teeth pulled was awful for you, but kinda funny for me. Ahhh, the memories!

Been in the same boat. I purposely avoided the dentist for just about as long except for the root canal when I was prego five years ago, and well this past winter it cost me almost $7000.00 to repair what damage my neurotic aversion to dentists did. I practiced good oral hygiene but what did me in was a genetic disposition to excess gum growth and bone loss. To make it even more fun they had to put me under local intravenous anesthetic because I couldn't keep my mouth open long enough for them to get any kinda look at me. I hope your situation goes well.

I bit a dentist once. He told me to bite and against my better judgment I did just what he asked me. He looked at me with utter betrayal and said that in all his practice he has never been bitten by a patient before. Damn, and I was the one.

I agree -- other people's hands in my mouth -- gloved or ungloved -- it just isn't natural.

I hate to admit it, but I tend to go about once every ten years as well. So far no cavities...just one preventative filling.
I do grind my teeth though and hope that doesn't lead to something wicked in the future.

I've always hated going to the dentist, too. Growing up, I had some that were as trustworthy as proverbial used car salesmen.

Dh hasn't had a cavity in his life. Not in a baby tooth, not in an adult tooth.

That being said, he had a root canal yesterday for something called "internal resorption." Apparently his nerve is eating away at the INSIDE of his tooth. Still no cavities though.
