Fish Tank Poll and Syrup

March 27th, 2007 by The Bosphorus

The pancakes from Cracker Barrel are amazing! Unfortunately I didn’t order them. I went with my tried and true salty breakfast, but I won’t make that mistake again. October and Spotz brought home a few bottles of Cracker Barrel’s good maple syrup. I think I’m going to go drink it now. They’ll fuss at me in the morning, but it will be worth it.

This is a question for all you East Tennessee readers. When I say we went to the aquarium today, where do you think we went? Did we go to Gatlinburg, or Chattanooga? The Missus and I were talking about most folks we run across think of one place rather than the other. So I’m polling our intellectual hive to see where you all stand.

Ah, but the camera is in the van still. No pictures for you all, yet. Those of you who come here only for the pictures will just have to read instead. [Edit: I should have put this two sentence paragraph at the front. Anybody who’s made it this far is obviously one of our literate, umm visitors.]

The majority of folks think of the Tenn Aquarium in Chattanooga. I’m pleasantly surprised by this, as folks we spoke to assumed we were going to Ripley’s in Gatlinburg. We did go to the Tenn Aquarium by the way.

It takes almost the same amount of travel time, but I’ll guess Gatlinburg, because Chattanooga’s is so large it takes an entire day to see both buildings.

  2. The Bosphorus Says:

You’re fast on the comment there, Cathy. Interesting answer.

Can I spoil it and tell everybody where you were?

I’m in Middle TN, I would guess Gatlinburgs Aquarium because we went there this past fall. It was the first thing that popped into my head. :-)

    Hush your self AT…

I always think Chattanooga. It was built first (1992 I think), is larger and much more impressive.

*giggle* I thought this was a post about Pigpen’s fish.

  8. Atomictumor Says:

    I did too…

Eaves just pointed out the relevance of my title. I totally forgot that pigpen’s fish is named syrup.

Dude, you met her the other day

    Chatt? (I’m another middle Tennesseean)

  12. Leslie Says:

Chattanooga. That’s *the* aquarium to me–the other is the “Ripley’s” aquarium.

  13. Netmom Says:

My guess would be Chattanooga… to me, it’s “the aquarium.” Of course, if you said “the aquarium in the Smokies” or “Ripley’s aquarium,” that would be different.

Both are much better than the National Aquarium in DC, sadly, which lost its federal funding a number of years ago, and is now just a few fish tanks in the basement of some federal office building.

  14. The Bosphorus Says:

The majority thinks of Chattanooga rather than Gatlinburg. [A chart is forth coming]

  15. Allisone Says:

But where’s the little bar graph showing the people who thought you were talking about Pigpen’s pet?
Maybe I was swallowed up by the margin of error :)

I rather go to Chat that Gat. Parking — What parking?

If my husband and make that comment, it usually means we’ve been to the fish store on Papermill.
