I :::hated::: sprint when we had them. Watch them because if you changed your original contract at all (the $5 instead of the $10), they'll consider that change a new two year contract. They tried it with us but we smacked them down. Good luck. They s.u.c.k.

Sprint also has a special place on my doo-doo list. Whenever I have the wherewithal to buy new phones and time to research other companies, plans, phones, etc (ha ha right!) I will jump ship at first opportunity.

See if anything here is of help, especially the last one on the first page:
http://www.consumerist.com/consumer/cancellations/

There are loopholes that you can use to get out of cell contracts, in particular, whenever they change your plan in a way that reduces or eliminates features, raises prices or is otherwise to your detriment, you have 30 days to write them and say you want out.

Sprint is the devil. Seriously. The devil. Luckily, we got "orders" to Okinawa for two years. Being military, they had no choice but let us go for free. Ohhh, but the lady we talked to acted like she had no clue there was a bill that protected military from having to pay termination fees. Yeah, so Japan's great. lol

I hate cell phones in general -- but I really hate the folks that sell them. They are all nice and hip to get you into a contract but that are bastards to get rid of. They are sharks and they are right up their with telemarketers.

I hate Sprint. Loathe. Detest. And yet they're the only ones who have signal where I live. Grrrr

And the thing about the second line? Total BS in my opinion.

Just so you know, I tried the same thing with Verizon, hubby not using phone why should I pay, blah blah blah, Well, they offered me the exact same thing . $5 a month. Only thing was, they let me know at the time that it would extend contract. So, moral is, nothing , just Verizon will so the same thing.

Shannon, I was smart enough to get a 1 yr contract this time, and my work has a big ol' discount with Verizon, which is sweet.

Yanno, they count on people to just give up and not keep pushing.

AT, it's just flippin ridiculous that they are giving you this BS. You aren't asking for anything more than common decency.

I used to do customer service for the Death Star - err- AT&T...I was the escalation line when things got sent to corporate..the "get this handled NOW" people.

Write - not call - their corporate office. Address it to some head honcho.

Send a copy of BJ's obituary - the assholes don't deserve it, but send it anyway.

If any of your local news stations do those consumer ripoff segments, cc the letter to them.

Be professional and to the point, let them look like the assholes they are.

Yeah, I have worked sales/customer service. That is why I don't like them. I have been on both sides of the counter. I also had a phone with verison. I was happy to pay the disconnect to never see them again. There service was horrible and they made mistakes that cost me money. That is why I ask for the person's name and write it down -- and a ticket number if they got it.

Your right -- I am a little judgemental -- ok maybe a lot. I usually do not turn on my hot laser beam of judgement on friends and family -- sales people are free game -- they are just asking for it. I find that you have to be a little more assertive these days to get what you pay for. There is a lot more flex than they are willing to let on. I appologize if I came of as generalizing and judgemental.

Oh, as for the jobs -- Food Stores, Food Service, Social Work (crisis intervention and the art of selling a different and better situation to people), there are more but these seem to have burned a special place in my mind at the moment. I like the provision that is on the back of window sticker in used car lots that pretty much gives the sales guy a free ticket to lie about the vehicle -- it goes something like this --"sales associate/seller is not responsible for any claims made about this vehicle and can not be held liable." I do have a lot of respect for them though - they have to sell stuff to eat. I am very loyal to go back to the same sales person and I always, always ask for a manager when I feel that a sales person has done a great job and been notably fair and tell the manager in front of the sales person and tell them to give them a raise. I do this and it embarrasses my wife. This and I tip very well around the holidays and when W makes a mess. So there is a softer non-judgmental side to me. I think cell phones are a unregulated racket. They say that they "never stop working for you" but that is crock. I think my biggest bill was 710 dollars. It was a month when I had to talk several of the children on my case load out of the woods, get them out of jail, and the like.

I totally socially engineered my way out of Anna's part of the contract with Cingular when she died. I probably shouldn't mention how in a public forum, but if you want to contact me via email, AT, you could always try what I did. I have no qualms. Bizness is bizness. And they're corked if they think I'm going to pay for a dead person's phone.
