AT mention there in his other post how he’s got the honor of being Godfather to a bunch of kids. When I finally decided to have the kids baptised, asking AT to be their Godfather made all the sense in the world.
One of the things holding me back from having them baptised sooner was the simple fact that I had no idea who The Missus and I wanted to be their Godparent. The other reason being that I grew up Baptist and Baptist don’t believe in baptising babies and, I suppose, other people who can’t think for themselves. Then sometime ago it hit me that I needed to step up and get the sacrament done. This church I go to is my home and the kids have grown up in it so far. What’s to hold me back?
I realized I don’t need to justify the sacrament to anybody. See, that was another hindrance. I have wanted to prove, or justify it to certain important people in my life. I’m past that now. (Right…) Anyway I’m looking forward to Sunday. I think October and Spotz, the two big kids are too. I proud that AT will be their Godfather.

You are right, you don’t have to justify anything - but is it okay to say I’m proud of you?

Godfathers don’t need ties. Just love and a protective spirit… that seems to be covered.
