The Baptism

April 15th, 2007 by The Bosphorus

In the words of one little old lady from my church, “they’re all Christian now”. Yep, the kids aren’t pagan babies anymore. They were baptized today amid pomp and circumstance at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. This morning the bishop was in attendance for confirmations. It cracks me up that both times my folks have attended the church have been some of the most formal services. Episcopalians do up big services pretty well.

When we went up and were standing near the baptismal font I was glad to have AT standing with us. I know I speak for the Missus here when I say I can’t think of anybody else I’d rather have looking out for our children. The Missus and I are blessed to have AT and his boys in our family like this.

Did you know that North Hollywood, CA has a candle factory? The General Wax & Candle Co., Inc. That’s where the baptismal candles were made. Seems like an odd place for a candle factory.

Great pic! Good to know your children are “Christians” now. :-) Sitting on wooden pews makes my butt itch.

  2. The Bosphorus Says:

Those pews have cushions. That actually makes it harder to scratch your butt, because you can’t scoot around on them easily.

  3. Southerncharm Says:

Cushions do make it somewhat better to sit on, but is still soooo uncomfortable, I suppose thats the purpose behind it all so you don’t go to sleep!

I never liked the pew with or without cusions. They should have a a lazy boy ministry at a church. Or just make it ‘legal’ to get up and walk around. lugnut looks like jack black or johnny cash on a white day. Good stuff — I hope that all went well — are your folks splashers or dunkers? Ours are splashers.

Hey! A fellow Episcopalian! Sure are few and far between here in my neck of the woods in Ohio. Glad to hear the Baptism went well.

Congratulations! Baptisms are wonderful. We had one during Mass yesterday and it was so sweet. I always cry at them, even when I don’t know the people. Does the Episcopal church do them as part of the service or afterwards? Catholics do it either way but our pastor is really pushing doing it during Mass.

Just so everybody’s keeping track, my kids are still heathen.
