The Missus and Lugnut just headed off to the Oak Ridge Preschool. Lug has an admissions interview at 2:30. We’ve been looking forward to this interview for a while since we’d really like for him to get into the preschool. They have a wonderful program over there and both the older kids both went through it with great results. There are a very limited number of spots open and it’s not all given that Lug will be accepted.

Dude, I almost wanna have another kid just to deal with the preschool some more. I’m really going to miss it next year when Pigpen gets out.

The preschool is awesome.

That was possibly the longest hour of my life. Lugnut refused all tests except for the vision screening (i.e. they take a photo of his eyes). He cried, he screamed. He glared at the teachers. He glared at the kids. He screamed some more.
I need a stiff drink.

Oh, and he scored a 4 out of 100 on the Brigance test. Cheers to over-achievement!

They have interviews for preschool now? I don’t think I am at all upset over being infertile as I first was. And what is a Brigance test?

Oh that just means that he “knows his feelings” and is able to “verbally express” them!!

Best ‘o’ luck Lugnut.

LOL Jane - right on!
Louise, the preschool is a Head Start/Title 1 program and serves at-risk kids. The Brigance screening is one of the tools they use to determine if your child is where he or she should be at developmentally.

Mrs. Eaves, although I feel your pain, I laughed out loud at your description above “he cried. He screamed. He glared…” Isn’t that always the way? During the most important times, you can count on the kids to be at their worst.

Good grief! I grew up in the era where we only got interviewed for JOBS! Suddenly I feel old!

I think we should be interviewing the teachers to make sure we want them teaching our kids. :-) Good luck Lugnut!!

I talked to Jan at the preschool, and she said that he was completely unwilling to do any tests. We agreed that’ll help his chances!

I was so sad when Noah didn’t make it to pre-school last year. I tried my damndest to help him achieve that goal. I kept him up all night before the interview, burnt him with a Marlboro Light, gave him some of my morning Vodka … no, nothing worked. He passed the tests, acted great and got wonderful scores.
I hear it’s a wonderful program, but Noah will go straight to Linden this year. In fact, Linden knows this and sent me some information about donating for their new computer labs.

Good luck Mrs Eaves. I feel your pain. I dont think I would try a Marlboro on him. It may have worked for Noah but all children are not the same.
