Well, tonight I went out to the Ulster Project auction, and ended up coming home with a $150 gun case. For 40 bucks.
Now, out of all the things I thought I’d do when I got up this morning, getting a gun case wasn’t one of them.
But hell yeah, I got a gun case. Now I just need to get some guns. And a flip out wall, so I can push a button, and have some klaxon’s wailing, and maybe a red strobe light, and a command console, and all sorts of kick ass stuff. And then I can fight crime. And right wrongs. And stuff.
For those keeping score, or those new enough not to see the history of the little brain guy, here ya go. GAC was the artistic mastermind behind the whole thing, we tried to figure out for about 2 weeks what a good logo for this train wreck of a web page would be. There’ve been various incarnations, and for awhile there it wasn’t so much the brain as the little eyes and whatnot, but its all come back around full circle now.
The first one, and the birth of the little brain guy.
This may be my favorite one ever. We put this up in Halloween of 05. The “of the damned” part was my suggestion. Go me.
See, we started out changing these things once a month. It’d take maybe 2 hours of work, she’d do the stuff in Fireworks, and I’d do the code monkey work. Around the time we put this header up, tho, we made the mighty shift from Typepad to Wordpress, which I was totally not prepared for. Yes, it was a busy Thanksgiving indeed.
That year, we created TWO Christmas banners! Wooooo. GAC was prolific. And out of school.
I did this one, now, if I recall correctly (and BJ isn’t here to contradict me, so ha). Seeing the header doesn’t really do it full justice, tho, because those freaking lights went all around the thing. I got a headache after a week of looking at it!
That January was mighty warm, so we had all these big plans to do a global warming header. Problem is, well, we kinda never got it done. I knocked this one out in 10 minutes that month, just to save my eyes from having to look at the freaking lights. I wanted to experiment with white text on black backgrounds, but it went over like a lead balloon. I mean, I liked it, but nobody else did. And then BJ hit me with a lead
balloon. I didn’t think those things were real…
So then we finally got the global warming one done. By then, it was February and cold as balls. So, there you go.
After that, we made what are, in my mind, the best headers of the day of the ‘tumor. We had gotten pretty damn good with Fireworks, and I got BJ a Wacom drawing tablet for Christmas that year, and she was getting pretty good with it. This one was one we tossed off in the Wacom. 30 seconds of work. You can tell.
In March, we did the Ides of March header. It was pretty cool, and on time, if I remember… in that it wasn’t May when it went up. For those who collect information, the tiles there are actual Roman tiles painstakingly imported from ancient Roman ruins, digitized, and applied to the website. Nothing but the best.
And then, on April Fools, I inverted it. Problem is, it stayed like this for like 2 months, and a lot of people were coming here that probably didn’t get the joke…
I don’t remember if the next three are in order. I think this one came first. I loved this one. We were on a big Asian movie trip at the time, and it just seemed sooooo fitting. This is probably my favorite header. I managed to get Atomictumor translated into Japanese, but it probably says something like “I love pigs” or “Inside part ways”.
Guess which holiday this one was for! BJ surprised me with this one, it was all her. Real hat on the little brainy guy. Woot!
This was us being cheeky, after the whole bus fiasco last year. I particularly liked the South Park reference.
Now, all of those ones were on an old layout theme, I had done most of it myself, and just butchered the default Wordpress theme to do it. I decided for our anniversary to get a new theme, since we were growing, and really needed the extra sidebar, so I got this particular black one. BJ tossed up the header, and now that I think about it, this outdoes the anime one. This was the last one she did that ended up on the page. After this, it was the white one we just got rid of, and now the jungle. However, I’m tickled that now I have a theme with a changable header, so hopefully I’ll bust out the Wacom and do some more eventually. Maybe.
So, there you go. There are too other little things, that never got finished or put up.
I did this abomination in the search for the cheesiest theme. Luckily, I got my wits about me and put a stop to it.
And then this was a masterpiece that BJ dabbled on and lost interest in. I think it would have been awesome.
