Dazed and Swingin’

May 5th, 2007 by Atomictumor

So after the lawnmower incident yesterday, I dropped the kids off at the inlaws for the night, and was at a total loss of what to do with myself.

I came back home, started watching a movie, when I got a phone call that Mojofilter and SuperT (now Dr.SuperT), are heading out to do some Friday night drinking and then catch a show. They’re heading to Christabel and the Jons.

dsc04242.JPGNext thing I know, I’m down in Knoxville, at Oodles in Market Place, with a few glasses of a tasty chianti, watching some amazingly good swing dancers try not to trip over my massive ass feet, while Christabel and the Jons were putting out the best damn show I’ve seen in many moons.  They are some amazingly talented musicians, and Miss Christabel’s voice is so sublimely sweet and soulful that you can’t help but grin and tap your toes.

Its the kind of music that makes you forget troubles, problems, and worries, and just be happy in the amazing now, while vaguely wishing that you could dance worth a crap.

The show was perfect.  Hanging out with MJF and Dr.T was enough of a treat, when halfway through the show Realtorchick and crew showed up and danced away.  I bought a t-shirt, and helped Christa untangle the mike cords after the show (I’m useful, occasionally).
I went to bed around 2 at MJF’s place, still wearing that happy smile, and woke up feeling good, but tired.  With sore legs.  Not sure whats up with that.

Next week, people, this band is going to be playing here in town out at the Oak Ridge Pavilion, Friday, free show, sitting out in the sunshine (hopefully) while Christabel and the Jons light the place up.  Now, since I’ve become like a freak for the band, I’m officially going to lay off the fact that the show is a political fundraiser thing clean out of Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?, for one of the dudes running for City Council.  I’ll ignore it, this week.

Still reading?

OK, OK, I should be able to upload some songs from their show last night to whet the Tumoritic appetite.  Just need to clean up all the crappy recording from the tracks, that may take a while.

Jesus, you’re still here?

Oh yeah, I forgot.

Spiderman 3, tomorrow, Tinseltown, 12:05 PM, get there early, Pigpen will be the one with the birthday grin.  After that, the Pizza Rat at 3ish.  We’re not doing cake and crap over there, because I’m cheap, so just bring the kids (or Daco) and run around in the air-conditioning.

What?  WHAT is it now?

RIGHT, happy Cinco de Mayo.  I’d be enjoying it more, but for the chianti fatigue, and the fact that the baselines for the mariachi music the neighbors are pumping all sound interchangeable with polka baselines.

Seems like theres something wrong with that.

Yep, they’re great live! I can’t wait until Friday. I’m playing with the idea of seeing them Thursday as well at Sundown in the City.

Oops - both this and the previous comment should be attributed to Mrs. Eaves.

Its not mariachi music being all loud outside my bedroom window tonight, its evidently a crappy country band that is playing at one of the restaurants across the turnpike.

They’re loud, they’re teh suck, and… now that I’m writing this, it sounds like they’re just now quitting so I can go to sleep.

Thank you, Atomictumor.com, for making them shut the hell up.
