Syrup is a beta, right? They are loners and like it that way, they will eat every other fish in their tank to maintain that standing - even other betas. Though at this point, I guess you know this. We learned the same way. You’d think they’d tell you that when you buy them.

Hope little P isn’t too itchy. Tecnu works like a charm around here. I used to be highly allergic when I was a kid, maybe I outgrew it or maybe Tecnu is the greatest thing ever.

Bettas do well with other Tetra type fish but not with eachother. You have to keep an eye on them though!
Ropefish won’t eat flakes! I hope the person who sold him to you told you that! They eat frozen brine shrimp! It’s not really expensive but if you don’t seal it well it will stink your freezer up! (I work at a pet store) The tank looks great!

Well, we thought it’d work out, having the tetras (Gabe Jr 1, 2, and 3) in there with Syrup, but this morning one of them was missing (entirely) and the other one was also missing (pieces).
Course, I just found out that ropefish, hey, they like to eat neon tetras… so, might be a rough night for Gabe Jr 1, 2, and 3… tomorrow I might move them back in with Syrup.

Just a thought, oh wise Tumorator…the nice people that sell the fish…they could have told you who likes to eat who.
Know what else? That darn intarweb thing could help with fish menus too.

Yeah, good thinking jackass, but the folks at the Pet Supplies Plus store didn’t know jack about it. He says “We just feed all the fish in these tanks flakes, and they seem to like it.”

We have two betas (one swims around in a huge margarita glass)

We were told at petco that they should always be alone. They are very territorial. (I wonder how they breed then???) We were also told that they like smaller tanks.

Ours are named Swimmy and Scaley.

I like your tank. Pretty!!

Feel free to consult Alpha; she’s had good luck with Coreys (sp?) coexisting with Beta — Coreys are like small catfish, and Betas are part of the Pirhana family.

Alpha works at Pet Supplies Plus, and you can find her there Thursday night, Saturday and Sunday mornings.

The ropefish won’t touch the shrimp pellets! Gah! I don’t like when people don’t get the right information! They will eat anything alive that will fit into their mouth…that’s the general rule for all fish! You should get some dwarf puffers! They’re so cute! er..I mean manly!
