Tonight, October and I will stay up past our bedtimes in the pursuit of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. We’re both planning on dressing up; October as Hermione and I as Professor McGonagall. I was hoping to go as Luna Lovegood, but can’t locate a long blond wig at this late hour.
Bos first brought home Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in fall of 1999, when October was barely a year old. Bos and I read it, and then read all the ones that followed. And last year, seven years after Harry Potter came to our house, October began reading them for herself.
I am grateful that we have this final tale to experience together.

Update: Had a great time last night - ended up bringing Spotz along for the ride as well. He makes for a very convincing Malfoy. October had a last minute wardrobe change and was the best looking Ginny Weasley there. Photos can be found here. We’re trying to read (at least) the first few chapters as a family, so we’re only on Chapter 3 right now. I’m afraid to look at the internet or leave my home…

That’s really lovely!

We’ll be up for the midnight release too… only we’ll have to drive about an hour to get to the nearest store that will be selling them at midnight. Borders is sold out, but Wal-Mart (and probably Meijer) has an ample, non-reserved supply.
Delta and I saw the recent movie as Ginny and Tonks, but left our wigs behind for this trip. Too bad; might have upgraded my image around here.

That is so wonderful that you got to share them. My son and I started that way, as he was 13 when the first came out. Then he upped and grew up and now as a 20 year old is not as excited. He says he will “catch up later.” Its sad when they grow up.

The Potter fans are at the bookstore right now browsing around with all the other Potter fans. It’s a lovely mess. You should see it.
Mrs. Eaves makes a convincing McGonagal. October’s freckles, painted on by the Missus, make her look just like Ginny Weasley. Lug and I slicked back Spotz hair Malfoy style.
Lug and I drank chocolate milk and watched Thomas the Tank Engine after they left. He climbed onto my lap and fell asleep and I put him to bed.

Your pictures are fantastic! I, too, am afraid to leave my house or turn on the T.V. =)
