A party with all my friends

August 2nd, 2007 by The Bosphorus

We went to the Preschool’s orientation tonight and I met Lugnut’s teacher and saw his classroom. He was so proud walking down the hallway where he showed us the fish tank and then led us to his room. Talk about a place with old memories. The preschool is full of them. We’ve had three kids enrolled in the place and even teachers we’ve never had recognize us.

The Missus commented on how strange it was that we don’t know anybody else that has kids going there now. Just a few years ago we were there with AT, GAC and Sumgirl, too. It was strange indeed being there. But good. Don’t get me wrong. It was good seeing Mrs. Lewis and Dr. Phillips. Those two are some the best school administrators I’ve ever met. So easy to talk to and engaged with the kids.

I was thinking about how the Tumor got started the other day. How I came home one day and the Missus said that AT and GAC were starting a blog. They were going to call it the Atomictumor and wondered if we wanted to be a part of it. I thought it sounded like a great, fun idea. Great because we were a bunch of anti-socialites who were finally making some friends in this odd town. Now we could keep in touch and not have to clean house for company. Woot! Blogs are great.

I don’t need to say that so much has changed since then, but much has. It’s an odd feeling thinking back like that. This reminds me of a Talking Heads song that I can’t quite put my finger on. It’s the one about inviting all your old friends to a party. Maybe I just misheard those lyrics and made them into something I wanted more. A party with all my friends.

I don’t think so, but maybe. I distinctly remember the part about all my old friends being there.

I don’t know which song you’re thinking of, but you reminded me how much I like the Arcade Fire version of This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody). And davidbyrneradio.com is a great streaming music site. I particularly liked the Icelandic music theme a few months ago. (Not so much the spoken word month, tho).
