Taser guns do not fall into my definition of "necessary force" unless under the most extreme circumstances. As a person who has to do public speaking in front of crowds of sometimes angry people (Ever been to a public hearing on an unpopular rezoning issue?) I would like to believe that I am protected if someone was to get violent... A time limit is just that, and this guy seems to have been trying to cause a disturbance for attention more than anything else. If he had gone postal and injured John Kerry, everyone would have been critisizing security for not protecting the Senator. That said, I think that tazers are horribly overused. There are many cases of people being killed by them without reason... If I had a family member who was deaf, or unable to respond to police for some other reason I would be terrified for their safety. Gosh, I can almost see both sides of this.
