Welp, I’ve done it. All those Google hits for “Don’t Tase Me, Bro shirt” have spoken, and I’ve made the shirt.

I did not know about this taz thing until I looked it up at work. I mean what’s a cop to do? You got John Kerry in there, a bunch of young folks who love a good fight and a door that won’t fit six cops, a jackass, and a tazer through it. Punt and go for the tazer. Now I have never heard anyone say “don’t taze me”. But if it was a gun and someone said “don’t shot me, bro” Something human inside you think would lay off the trigger. So what else was in the tool belt: gun, check; pepper spray, check; tazer, double check, hand cuffs, check; billy club, check — which one would you choose? Well I guess you could talk to the guy but that wasn’t helping.

  14. timsan1 Says:

I somehow don’t think this guy is going to make the free speech highlight reel in the history books. Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Junior, and the “Don’t Taz Me, Bro” guy. Can’t see it.

  15. Atomictumor Says:

Cool Greg, glad you like it!
Tim, while I think the guy who got tased is, by most accounts, a douche, I also think that tasing in general should not be used in a political silencing situation. 5 cops can bring this guy out of the room making noise without resorting to force, way I see it.

  16. sumgirl Says:

sorry, AT, i’m with timsan. he was obviously resisting arrest. he resisted the whole ordeal from what the tape showed. had they beat him with their clubs then that would have been excessive. he deserved a good tase. his questions weren’t why they were trying to shut him up and contain him, his erratic and disruptive behavior is why they were trying to contain him. and he completely resisted. in this day and age someone gets up there acting all wild and fishy like that, security doesn’t just let them stand there and wait to see what he pulls out of his pocket next. (there - i said it.)

  17. sumgirl Says:

had he pulled out a knife or gun i doubt anyone would be making tshirts about now.

  18. Jacket Says:

“had he pulled out a knife or gun i doubt anyone would be making tshirts about now.”

And should ifs and buts become fruits and nuts, we will all have a very Merry Christmas.

He was unarmed, did not present a clear and present danger with his speech, the Senator was a willing party wanting to answer his questions. The tasering was uncalled for had they simply let the question and answer session play out. The “victim” is a clown, soon to be a rich clown.

If his parents had tazed him when he was growing up, we wouldn’t be watching this video now

[…] can now buy a ‘Don’t Tase Me, Bro!’ t-shirt. Of course you […]

  25. timsan1 Says:

I do agree, AT. It was a bit over blown. They could have yanked him out of the room. But that is the magic of cameras — We really don’t know why they did not pull him out of the room physically. Just a fear has a negative effect on our civil liberties so does stupidity. And he will exersize his other freedoms like sueing the school wrongfully, I am sure, and have is college paid for him. But when this guy hits the real world and he can’t stand on the table in a staff meeting and call his boss the ass that he is, he is in for a rude awakening that civil liberites, while a right in this country, will not grant him the right to employment when security carries his ass to the parking lot. Hopefully he will, in the future, find a more mature and thoughtful way of exchanging ideas before then.

In general the first ones that I saw pretty much sucked but they do seem to be improving.
