To so many, the Nobel Prize has just been devalued beyond belief. Are they paying him in those little plastic Mardi Gras coins?

To so many scientists, the Nobel Peace Prize has just upheld science over politics.
It’s nice to see Gore get recognition for his tireless efforts to educate the world about the threat of global warming and the evidence for a human role in the problem and its solution.
It is sad to see people so consumed with Gore Derangement Syndrome that they have to mock the Nobel Peace Prize.

Lemme tell ya, coming from a military family with so many friends overseas, I can attest that global warming is a bigger threat than terrorism… hmmmm…

He’s the guy with the great, big houses that weren’t even filled with CFC lightbulb and used regular ole heating systems, central air, plumbing and whatnot?
Nice to see it still starts at home.

Well, one great big house anyway. It is also an office for both of the Gores, who work out of their house. They pay a >$400/month premium on their electrical bill to get power from solar and other green sources.
The key point about global warming is greenhouse gases. If all the power used in Gore’s house were hydroelectric, he could have the largest, most energy-inefficient house in Tennessee, and it would still generate zero greenhouse gases.
Gore is not a paragon of personal virtue. I don’t think the Nobel Peace Prize criteria include sainthood. It is amusing the lengths some people will go to attack him personally, when the real issue is the fate of our planet.
