As I washed dishes last night, Spotz asks:
“Mom, do ticks have nuts?”
I turned to look at him. “Um…what?”
“Do ticks have nuts?”
“Uh…what exactly do you mean, Spotz?”
“Mo-om, ticks! Do ticks have nuts??”
At this point, he reached into a bag of candy and produced a Twix candy bar.
“You know, Mom, ticks!”
“Ohhhhhhhhhh. Twix. No, Twix don’t have nuts.”

That reminds me, though. We’ve not had much luck trick-or-treating in the past few years. It seems that every year, fewer and fewer houses are giving out the goods. Are there any secret Oak Ridge neighborhoods out there that are excellent for trick-or-treating?

Reminds me of those “Chew it over with Twix” commercials. We took The Stash last year trick or treating and did a lot better in the river view area of Clinton, under the green bridge, than we did in Oak Ridge. I guess we are taking the boys to the grove for their little Halloween festival today.

One of the best laughs I have had in a week.

Yum! I love me some Twix!!
Come to our house!! (well… we live in CT but you are still welcome!!)
No one ever comes here so I end up eating all the snickers.
I think the problem is that our neighborhood gives out crazy amounts of candy, pencils, and erasers. By the time the kids get to my little cul-de-sac, they probably figure it’s not worth it.

2 great neighborhoods to trick or treat in are Emory Heights and Briarcliff. I am not sure which we will do this year, but you are welcome to join us! Lots of kids and great goods. Could be a lot of fun.

Here in Nashville, our larger shopping malls will have trick or treating inside. It makes it easy on the parents. You just walk from one shop to the next. I wish you guys the best!

A really good option is the “Trunk or Treat” at Kern Methodist, from 5:30 - 7:30. There will be about 50 cars, each giving out treats from decorated vehicles. Lots of candy in a small area, safe place, bobbing for donuts, and lots of other fun activities.
We’ll be there.

we went to briarcliff with some friends in that neighborhood the year before last and amost all of the houses were decorated and the kids had more candy than i would ever allow them to ingest. i had to intervene and eat all the chocolate … wait, i do that anyway.

Although I like the simplicity of trunk-or-treat and malls, I would really miss the tradition of going door-to-door. I imagine we’ll try Briarcliff, since it got the most votes. Thanks for the input, everybody!

I’d recommend checking Whippoorwill Dr/ Wisconsin Ave area (the road just past the guard shack and Oak Hills Estates w/the lions in front.) Having $300,000+ priced homes and a nice neighborhood I’d think they’d be giving some good candy away!

British Woods Apartment (where we live) is a good spot too!
