Next-mom haiku

January 20th, 2008 by aka Ladyfriend

One day at his school
Juicebox told one of his friends
“This is my next mom”

Told AT bout it
We decided that it works
Next instead of Step

So, I’m the “next mom”
It has been an awesome ride
Can’t wait for the rest.

Last night was real neat
First time for me with all this
New things intrigue me.

Interrupted sleep
A little voice at the door
At 2:10 am.

It is rewarding
To give comfort when needed
Every parent’s job.

I’ve never had this
OMG! It’s so awesome.
Fulfilling and real.

Laying back in bed
All I did was treasure it.
I love my three boys.

    Did Juicebox have one
    of those ugly nightmares?
    So glad he has you.

  2. Joel Says:

    Our only child left
    Yesterday back to college,
    Embracing the new.

    Each stage of parent
    Discovering a new child,
    New relationship.

    It is to wonder,
    Seeing familiar as new;
    Rediscovery.

    Each day at this site
    Visits awaken in me
    Awareness of change.

    Unseen friends posting,
    Expose intimate feelings.
    Filling me with hope.

    Lug dumps cereal
    on the kitchen counter top.
    A pile tastes better.

    Missus sews a mess
    of fabric into a dress.
    Wedding sometime soon.

    Cereal piled up
    beneath the kitchen bar stool.
    Lug on the couch now.

    hammer weighs heavy in hand
    serene entropy

    Crazy ass cold out
    Was raking leaves earlier
    Now a leaf blower

    Might ease my back pain
But my hands are still bitchin’
    A knuckle fell off

    Least thats what I think
It might have been something else
    But I haven’t checked

    What lucky children.
Yes, they’ve seen hard times but they’ve
    Felt a lot of love.

    My first haiku here.
Hello! :o) I’m just so happy
    That you are a group.

Next Mom. That’s really sweet. Congratulations to all of you. Love is grand. Now I know why there are so many songs written about it.
