Kudos to the bro

February 1st, 2008 by aka Ladyfriend

Earlier this week in the Chattanooga area, a mother dropped her kids off at an apartment (in the morning…school? hello?) with a bunch of other children (where they were not being attended by a capable adult) and then went shopping with some friends. The 6 year old little girl got hungry and tried to cook some food. A fire started and she’s in the hospital now with 2nd and 3rd degree burns. Her mother has been arrested and she has no other family. Terrible. Makes my heart hurt. This little girl needs some prayers…

…………………….

I have 3 younger brothers. The oldest one is a 4th grade teacher in the city where I grew up. He’s had a lot of jobs, but teaching is where he belongs. Recently in his class, they’ve been talking a lot about friendship. After he heard about the little girl who got burned, he and his class decided to write the little girl some “get well soon” cards and letters. His fiance’ is interning for her teaching certificate right now, and she did the same in her class. He called me last night to tell me they made the news.

I wanted to send some big ol’ KUDOS to my brother and sis-in-law-to-be for teaching friendship and love. It’s what this world needs more of. It goes a long, long way.

JBAM- you guys have taught your kiddos something huge. Thinking of others and caring for humanity. It’s so, so, so important. And I know that little girl will feel every bit of the love you’ve sent her way. There is no greater gift. You guys rock.

No crap dude. Some people end up doing the job where the just BELONG, and I think thats the most amazing thing. You rock, dude.

(The lady’s family is all cool, tho.)

Wow, seriously, that brings tears to my eyes. What a blessing for a little girl in need of love. They’re the kind of people who could teach us all a few things… (okay, that was pretty-darn corny, but the tear thing was for real…)

Can your brother move to Texas and teach my kid? THATS the kind of teachers I want him to have. He’s got one now… who’s so CLEARLY just there for the paycheck and until her husband retires its not even funny. (Not to mention she ADMITTED that to me… ::Rolls eyes::)

I read in another report that Dynasty has only attended 30 school days so far this year… I wonder why nobody looked into this?

    Here’s the Hospital contact info:

“If you or someone you know would like to send Dynasty a card, letter or teddy bear, you can send them to: Dynasty McMillian, C/O Joseph M. Still Burn Center, 3651 Wheeler Road Augusta, GA 30909″

Yeah. Saw that about her only going to school 30 days. The same news channel that’s linked above had that report, also. Children services had the mom on the list of people they were looking for… not soon enough. Sucks. Thanks for the address.

I also heard on the news that Dynasty had no family or anyone visit her in the hospital because her mom was busy being arrested. The hospital social workers said that they are providing the love and support she needs. (!)
I hope that the situation has changed now. Prayers.
God be with your family Mandy. Good stuff.

The mother is out of jail, but couldn’t afford the trip to GA. I think someone set up a gas card collection for her.

Well, let’s see…. the mom couldn’t be bothered to get her child to school. Then she leaves her alone with what the reports say is up to 8 other children and an elderly mentally incapacitated gentleman who apparently can’t feed the children himself to go shopping….

The mother can afford to go shopping but can’t afford to get to her seriously burned daughter.

I’d say that maybe the little girl is better off without her.
