Snow… school… snow… no school!
February 27th, 2008 by aka Ladyfriend
So.. this morning when we woke up, it was snowing!! It’s really the only substantial snow we’ve had this year that has “stuck.”
We checked the news website and school was NOT canceled. The boys were not happy.
As of 7am, school was still on for the day… AT loaded up a very sad MastaG and took him to school.
Juicebox made the best of the snow before he had to leave for school. (Note: The car is AT returning from dropping MastaG @ school).
Juicebox loaded up in the car and went to school. 20 minutes later, AT returns home..Juicebox in tow… the elementary schools are now closed.
As AT’s rehashing a story about stupid Tennessee drivers in the snow, MastaG calls.. as of 7:35am, all the city schools are out for the day.
AT goes to pick up a very happy boy.
The boys have enjoyed a cold morning, playing in the snow before it all melts.
And the dogs joined the snow eating, too.
Then everyone came inside to defrost and eat some warm breakfast. Juicebox chased his snow with 5, yes FIVE, pancakes and some bacon…
And MastaG? He ate about half of a pancake and a piece of bacon…. He wasn’t hungry. He had breakfast at school this morning.

I can’t tell you how much I envy you guys today! I want a snow day! Just one though. That should last me another 10 years or so.

It cracks me up that schools are closed for that little dusting of snow! The kids in Il would never go to school if that were the case here. But we get tons of snow all winter long and we are used to it. I am sick of it.

My kid was already at school too and the bus brought him back. He didn’t get home until 9 and wasn’t too thrilled that he got up, showered and dressed at 545 just to come home in the middle of first period.
The best snow days are when they call it off BEFORE your alarm goes off and your mom turns off your alarm for you and lets you sleep.

It reminds me of a snow day when I was in high school. The morning temp was -12 degrees F. The wind chill was -40 to -60 in respect. It was so cold the snow was hard and you could walk on it without falling through. I had to walk to school. 30 minutes into first period the school closes. Student go out to start their cars and some don’t start. Pipes burst, engine blocks freeze, and their is frost on the inside of doors and windows. So of the students are stranded at the school till noon. I however bummed a ride off a friend with a car that started. There were eight of us and it was an old Pontiac 6000. We went to his house and had a good time. You just can’t get those times back…
