Birthday haiku
Sunday, January 27th, 2008I’m digging 30
Woke up cuddling my gal
And slept in till 8
Got Zeppelin on
And fixin to cook some eggs
And a spot of toast
These are the good days
And there ain’t no end in sight
On a Sunday morn
Might head out today
And get me a new cellphone
On a family plan
Got some birthday cards
From my three sets of parents
And friendly emails
Bisc sent a remote
A “jumbo universal“
Marked “to the old fart”
My only regret
Might be that I can’t mock Eaves
For being 30

Next-mom haiku
Sunday, January 20th, 2008One day at his school
Juicebox told one of his friends
“This is my next mom”
Told AT bout it
We decided that it works
Next instead of Step
So, I’m the “next mom”
It has been an awesome ride
Can’t wait for the rest.
Last night was real neat
First time for me with all this
New things intrigue me.
Interrupted sleep
A little voice at the door
At 2:10 am.
It is rewarding
To give comfort when needed
Every parent’s job.
I’ve never had this
OMG! It’s so awesome.
Fulfilling and real.
Laying back in bed
All I did was treasure it.
I love my three boys.
Wing’s Birthday Haiku
Sunday, January 13th, 2008Wing’s birthday haiku.
no eggs, milk, plenty of spice
Vegan cake is good!
Wing is tired now.
Not old enough for coffee.
Maybe it’s nap time
Missus took Lug out;
so quiet, so quiet when
just one kid is gone.
I hear Wing crying.
Soon he will be too big, too
old to walk to sleep.
In 2008
Sunday, January 6th, 2008We are all still here
Enjoying time together
Finding our “normal”
Treasure all the past
Dreaming about the future
Living the present
