Blueberry farm haiku

Sunday, October 14th, 2007

Had good times last night
Celebrating a birthday
Out at Cemestos

Family is great
Even if blood’s not involved
Tight bonds of friendship

Her presence was felt
Celebrating alongside
Where she’s always been

Think of yesteryear
When Bos spoke of bonds and love
And I saw Beauty

Bos is pretty cool
And he’s a hella speaker
Glad he did the job

Watched the video
Archaic, magnetic tape
Artifacts from then

Strange how things happen
Wedding renewal last year
A whole different age

I’m back at the farm
Baptize Bonnaroo Baby
Didn’t plan to come

But its just a day
And the place is beautiful
And good company

BJ smiles down
At her happy baby boys
And her sweet husband

Who’s smiling too
Its neat how the heart has room
To have love, again

It amazes me
How my love for her’s unchanged
While the new love grows

It should be harder
Like back in February
But I won’t complain.

Pictures

Sunday, October 7th, 2007

Took down some pictures
Hanging up in the hallway
Put some new ones up

A refreshing change
My eyes used to hang on them
And make my feet stop

I stopped noticing
And I don’t need her pictures
To remember her

Now, the new pictures
Snapped on Ladyfriend’s camera
Of my bratty boys

Memories aren’t bad
Unless you want them to be
Nor is the future.

Sick Kid Haiku

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

Clean car and sick kid
Post soccer fever for G
Pigpen passed it down

An imported strain
From Cemestos Garden stock
Only lasts a day

Last week, on Wednesday
When Pigpen had the fever
MastaG said prayer

“Please make Pigpen well,
And please let me get it too,
So I can miss school”

So he has it now
But he’ll be fine by Monday
I’ll try not to laugh

Sunday haiku

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

Shoulders ache a bit
From hunching over the box
Workin’ on Sunday

Been sick of this place
Until this week, it appears
Feels like home again

Sold a few t-shirts
Wow, how easy things can be
Blows my mind a bit

House is a mess, man
Kids are away, I should clean
We’ll see how that goes

Post party haiku

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

We had a good time
Partyin at the deli
We closed the place down

Wastin sunny days
Laying on couch together
So old and so new

She puts up with lots
I run either hot or cold
Stuck in past/future

Now gets avoided
Cuz thats how I used to roll
Survival mode, yah?

My moods change like tides
That don’t have a handy chart
Confusing sailors

And sailors get pissed
Those bastards will get piss drunk
Beat you half to death

Vicious folk, sailors
Least thats what I understand
Don’t know none, myself

On pretty Sunday
Kids gone, her locked in my arms
The new feels so good

On ugly Monday
I run round ragged and stressed
I don’t feel the new

I get down, people
I don’t let anyone in
When they do belong

Grant me strength, spirit
Please don’t let me run aground
When I’m so happy
