Growing up

We have been busy. Work has been vicious for both of us for the last month.  AT spent a week in Maryland and we wore out both grandmas with some babysitting. (Though Im sure neither one would complain).

MastaG is doing his teenage things. Not much new news on him. He and his girlfriend celebrate their 2 month-iversary this weekend. He is pretty happy about it.

Pigpen is doing great, too. He has ALMOST mastered bike riding.  He can coast amd pedal…and brake. But he cant quite get the bike started with his feet on the pedals from a stopped position. But hes practicing. The boy has motivation. Ive never seen him dedicate himself to something that is so hard. Im proud of him.

WeePT is getting big so fast. She says “dadada,” “maamaa,” “daaa”(dog), “deeooooow”(when you ask her what the kitty says), and a bunch of other babbley things we havent figured out yet.

She is crawling on all 4s and prefers to be pulled up and standing. Yep. She is VERY mobile.

Wee has 3 teeth in…2 bottom and one top. I looooove her toothy little grin. Teething sucks, btw.

And now…we are teaching her how to sleep in her crib. Yeah, I know. Bad habit sleeping with us this whole time…but we opted for getting everyone as much sleep as possible. And now it’s time for her to use her nursery for something other than diaper changes.

We started this past Saturday night. Night 1 was a no go. Screamed bloody murder for an hour. I slept with her on the futon in her room.

Day 2…attempted nap1- nope. Screamed for an hour.
The rest of the day, we played in her room, played with toys in her crib…just kind of hung out in there all day. Bedtime…AT got her in her crib. She slept for an hour. Then she and I crashed on the futon.

Day 3- AT got her to take two 20-30 min naps in her crib. Better than no naps…Ill take it :)
Last night, bedtime went over ok. She slept for an hour and 15 min.

Day 4- Today, my sweet girl took an hour and  15 min nap in her crib.

I think we are gonna do it! Yep. Baby steps…but it’s better than nothing.  I’m proud of my big girl.

Boy, this is going so fast. I love it so much.

Is there a “pause” button?

Cancuns…meets WeePT

Before the baby was born, we frequented the local Cancuns…a lot. I’d say we were pretty close to “regulars.”

Then I got pregnant. Not too many bad pregnancy symptoms…but the one I did have, ruled out ever going back to Cancuns (it was the only thing my stomach completely rejected)…much to the demise of AT. He loves Cancuns.

Anyway…a little over a year later, we are back. Margaritas and salsa. Yum.

WeePT is sitting in her high chair…talking as loud as she can to overcome the volume of the karioke.
…and the waiter sets down a refill on the salsa and chips…a little too close to little fingers.

Yep… Shes been salsa-fied.

Now shes one socked.
And looooving it. :)

9 mos checkup

WeePT had her 9mos checkup today. Ears are all better from ear infection two weeks ago. Other than the temper-tantrum she threw when the doctor took her, she did really good. No shots today.

They pricked her finger to check her blood for lead and to check her iron levels. She didnt even cry! She tested all clear for lead and anemia. Yay!

Height- 27 3/4 inches (60%)
Weight- 19.2 lbs (60%)..yep, shes chunked right up!
Head- 46 1/2cm (97%)…hmm..AT and his big headed kiddos :)

Like an orange on a toothpick :)

And we dont go back until her 1st birthday. Wow. This is going fast.

Move over, Cheerios

Wee PT has a new favorite food.
Cheddar cheese.

Though to be fair…she followed up her cheese bits with some Cheerios…so, they are still in the club.

Do you like pancakes?

This Saturday, have Pigpen serve you pancakes!  Whats better than that?

If you’re in Oak Ridge between now and Saturday, ping me to make arrangements with the boy to trade your money for his ticket.

Good times, people, good times.

(special credit to MastaG for the directorial and post-production skills)

Little green men

My mom used to tell me that when I was sick…that little green worker men would come work on my body to make my sick go away…but only while I sleep.

And to drink plenty of fluids…so they can work really hard.

We are working on the fluids. WeePT likes oj in a bottle. It’s been a special treat in the past…so, she thinks it’s pretty cool that Ive presented a juice bottle to her the last 3 days.

AT and I took her to the doc yesterday. Her fever spiked on day 4. She has ear infection in both ears. Freakin cold. This one got her good. She’s now taking her first antibiotics.

AT is also taking antibiotics now, too…for “acute sinusitis” …. Dumb ol sinuses.

The house kinda feels like a sick ward right now. Medicines all over the window sill, kleenex all over the place. Lots of sniffles and little raspy coughing.

I’ll be glad when it’s over.

Rainy day, swinging nap and colds

and some Carpenters…

Fun with WeePT

Hold on…

It’s been another busy week around our house…with no anticipation of stopping for another couple of weeks. Who decided to name this “Christmas break”? I’m not on vacation. And even though the kids don’t have to go to school…we have them busy at the house doing odd jobs and helping us.

Between my work..which is experiencing a 25% increase over last year’s sales (normal boost for holidays is around 15-18%)…and AT’s work..I’m wondering how we ever get ANYTHING done. But, in my head, I know the crazy will settle.

AND- I’ve learned not to create a time intensive project for myself…I need to plan ahead. If said it before and never really listen to myself.
Project for this year? We are dubbing all of our know VHS and CompactVHS tapes over DVDs.Chapter cuts, title cuts, descriptions. Yep.
The cool part? We are more than halfway finished with all of them. My family had around 38 VHS tapes and around 40-ish Compact VHS tapes. I will be done with all of these today. whew! Love my Daddy for being the guy behind the camera for all these years. It’s been soooo much fun to watch all of these. I hope my siblings appreciate the copies I’m making for all of them. I’m pretty sure they will.

AT has 20-ish tapes from his Dad. He’s started them. Funny stuff.
And…we have about 8 tapes from GAC’s parents. We did those first…but have to do them again. Yay for learning, right?

What else are we up to?
Well… Pigpen has decided to learn magic. From his magic kit. That he got for Christmas LAST year. : /
And MastaG has pretty much isolated his activities to (unless asked to do something) texting on his phone…or playing his video game.

We finally put up a Christmas tree.

WeePT FINALLY cut her first tooth. It’s been a mean, angry little bump under her gums for weeks. Now? A very sharp little sliver. She’s making the funniest faces. It must feel weird in her mouth.

Slingblade?

Silly baby

And then.. Sunday night, after spending the last 4 hours on the floor playing at a family event…we get home, plop her on the floor… and like a fat little inch worm, she takes off “crawling”.

And so far, she hasn’t forgot. I doubt she will.  : )

(Yes…she’s going after the dog’s Kong)

Hardhead contest

When Pigpen went outside with the doberman to give him some exercise, they had a meeting of the minds, prompting the question:
Does a 9 year old boy or a 3 year old doberman have the harder head?

You decide…
